Wow, that's even longer than the lines to get an original iPhone. ;-)

I remember the square. Last time I was there. we forgot the olympic villsage was being built
nedb
They built it below the level of the Congress building, (Visible in Leo's vid) so you can't see it from the SQ.

I did see the cranes though, just didn't put 2+2 together. My wife & I had to watch it on TV a week after her arrival in the states.

Damn that's a long line! It's like the queue to get my train seasonticket renewed.

Is this video from the iPhone? Quality looks great!

Don't forget Leo, in China, you're an educator not a journalist!

I couldn't pick out 1 overweight person. That line would be twice as long in this country due to weight alone.

When we were touring Japan, the crowds were always more orderly and polite than what I see in your video. They would not randomly cut in or run by the others. Different culture in China I suppose. Thank you Leo for 'taking us with you' on portions of your journey.

When I was in Beijing last summer, the square was closed because government was in session. I remember that the smog was so bad that we could barely see the government building from the gate to the Forbidden City, is it still like this?

I had a friend who viewed Mao many years back and had an uncontrollable desire to laugh! She wasn't asked back. They take their dead dictators seriously there.

Hope you get a chance to travel through some of the less touristy areas. Looking forward to video of areas we're never allowed to see.
