My new TV show, The Lab with Leo Laporte debuts in April, but I'm in Vancouver right now for rehearsals. Here's a short video of the new set we shot on Wednesday.
(Sorry about the interlacing - there's a better quality version on TWiT.)
Check out the on set live cam at labwithleo.com/webcam. Kate Abraham's behind the scenes blog (she's our call screener and chyron operator) is labwithleo.com/blog/kate and our Free File guy and chase Producer Ryan Yewell's blog is labwithleo.com/ryan/blog, and there are photos on Flickr.
The show will air on G4techTV Canada and the How To Channel in Australia. We'll be shopping it to US networks as soon as we have a few shows in the can.
I banged on my Nokia N93 (literally) until it was able to focus. It's still going out of focus spontaneously - something seems to be wrong with the autofocus mechanism - but the picture was clear long enough to take this shot. It hit the 80s today. Global warming is a bitch.
Fear of enslavement by our creations is an old fear, and a literary tritism, but I fear something worse and much more likely - that sometime after 2020 our machines will become intelligent, evolve rapidly, and end up treating us as pets. We can at least take comfort that there is one worse fate - becoming food - that mercifully is highly unlikely.

First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII — and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we’ve realized it’s a brochure.

Spray waffle iron with Pam, heat it up. In Cuisinart combine oat flour, milk, eggs. Add broccoli and puree mixture. Add BP, BS, and vanilla. Let mixture sit for a few minutes. Cook waffles. Cool. Makes about 10.
Serving suggestion: Put in plastic bag in frig or freezer. Toast until crispy when ready for a yummy breakfast or lunch. Serve with combo of cut up fruit and syrup….I use Cary’s sugar free syrup.
